A Satisfied Soul

Read Psalm 63:1-8

“Oh God, you are ___(MY)___God.”  Psalm 63:1
* God is a personal God.  He knows you and has made you for a personal relationship with Him.

“__(EARNESTLY)__ I seek you;  my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. ” Verse 1

* Seeking earnestly is more than just a discipline, it is a longing, a desire, an ache or longing resulting in actively striving to grow closer and closer to the Lord.

Deuteronomy 7:7 “The Lord did not __(SET)__ his affections on you and ___(LOVE)__ you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.”

*Note: The Lord set his affection on YOU!

Deuteronomy 7:7 “The Lord did not set his affections on you and choose you because you were _____________ or________________ or _________________ or………….

(fill in the blanks with whatever you think, i.e. perfect, pure, blameless, pretty, strong, etc.)

Deuteronomy 7:8a, “But it was because the Lord ___(LOVED)___you…..”

1 John 3:16 *God shows us how much he loves us.

1 John 4:10 *The Lord loved us first.

Colossians 3:1, “Since then, you have been raised with Christ, ___(SET)_____ your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things _(ABOVE)__ not on earthly things.”

* The Lord sets his affection on YOU, then YOU set your affection on HIM

Finding satisfaction depends on looking in the right place.

Psalm 63:5- Our Souls are satisfied by the richest of spiritual foods.

Salvation does not equal ___(SATISFACTION!!!!!)____

*Satisfaction comes from a daily filling by__(THE LORD)____.  Psalm 5:3, Matthew 6:11

*An unsatisfied soul is a stronghold waiting to happen.  Nature abhors a vacuum….human nature does too.  Ecclesiastes 5:10, Proverbs 13:4,

Luke 6:20-211, “Blessed are you are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.  Blessed you who hunger now, for you will be __(SATISFIED)__.”

Read Luke 4:18 This verse tells us the Messiah’s ministry of preaching and healing-to meet every human need, he is anointed not with literal oil, but with the Holy Spirit.

To preach___(GOOD NEWS)___to the ____(POOR)____*meaning those who are aware of their need of God’s grace and provisions.  Poor also can mean the helpless, destitute, beggar, needy; someone subsisting on the alms of others.

*You were never meant for subsistence living.

*You were meant to be full and satisfied with Christ alone.  Looking to others will always leave you feeling empty.

*Go to God first.  Empty your cup daily and confess sin, pour out hurts and concerns.

*Allow Him to fill up your empty cup.

*Other relationships will then provide the overflow.

* Do not diet on God!  Are you starving?  We are meant to crave God.  What have you tried to fill your craving with?  How did it leave you feeling?  Begin to experience true satisfaction today!
